Where the month
actually went.
Your MoMo, your bank, the cash in the tin, your ikimina, and what your cousin still owes you. One place that adds up — and tells you the truth before payday, not after it.
Being built now. No card, no signup yet — just tell us where to reach you.
Say it the way you'd say it
to someone.
No forms, no categories to learn, no spreadsheet. Type it, say it, or forward the message MoMo already sent you. Qonta writes it down and works out what it was.
Record
“Spent 2500 on moto.” “Paid school fees 45000.” A text, a voice note, a photo of a receipt, or a forwarded MoMo message. It reads all four.
Know
Ask it anything. Where did the month go? Can we cover rent? Who owes us? Answers in plain words, not a chart you have to interpret.
Plan
Budgets that reset when your salary lands, not on the 1st. Bills that warn you while there is still time to do something about it.
Most money apps
get this part wrong.
They were built somewhere without ikimina, without school fees three times a year, without a brother in Musanze who needs 20,000 this month. So they file all of it under “other” — and the numbers stop meaning anything.
Ikimina is not an expense
You are buying a claim on a pot, not losing money. Counted as spending you look poorer every week and suddenly rich on payout day. Qonta tracks what you have put in, and when your turn comes.
Lending is not spending
The money left your wallet and it is still owed to you. Both are true, so both get recorded — and nobody has to remember the number.
Moving money is not losing it
MoMo to savings is not 20,000 spent. Qonta knows the difference, so your food budget never reads as blown by a payment you made to yourself.
Shared, without
sharing everything.
A household is not a company and does not want a permissions screen. Everyone records into the same books; who sees what is one simple choice per person.
Both of you, one set of books
Two phones, one truth. Every entry remembers who made it, so “who paid for that?” stops being a conversation.
The children see their own
A teenager with an allowance sees their allowance. Not the rent, not the salary, not what you lent your brother.
Or don't look at all
In plenty of homes one person manages the money and the other has asked not to be shown it. That is a setting, not a workaround.
Being built, in the open.
Honest status, because you will find out anyway:
- Working: the ledger, the accounts, ikimina, debts, budgets, and the part that reads what you send and works out what it was.
- Not yet: the app you can sign into. There is no signup on this page because there is nothing to sign into.
- Next: WhatsApp, so you can record without opening anything.
